Mindarie Regional Council (MRC) has been found to be compliant against all criteria reviewed during a recent audit by the WA Department of Water and Environmental Regulation (DWER).
DWER visited Tamala Park Waste Management Facility in December of last year (2024) to assess MRC’s compliance against its Part V conditional license which is issued under the WA Environmental Protection Act 1986. These audits are conducted by DWER – which regulates licensed premises – periodically and without the prior knowledge of the licensee. This is to ensure that assessments are a true picture of the licensed premises’ operations during ‘normal business’.
In particular, the most recent audit was to assess compliance of MRC’s operational and regulatory controls to manage and mitigate environmental impacts.
No material issues were identified by DWER during the audit.
Scott Cairns, CEO of Mindarie Regional Council said: “As the operator of Tamala Park Waste Management Facility, MRC is committed to best practice environmental management practices which protect the natural environment and reduce adverse impacts across all operational activities.
“We are pleased to have been found to be compliant against all the criteria recently assessed by the regulator which is a positive reflection of the important work of our team in this area.”
