Waste Management Team Leader

Mindarie Regional Council (MRC) is one of Western Australia’s biggest waste management authorities, providing a comprehensive waste disposal service to local government authorities and residents in the Perth Metro Area.

The role

The Waste Management Team Leader is an integral member of the operations team and contributes to the MRC objectives. This position provides supervision and leadership to staffs at the Tamala Park Transfer Station and Weighbridge, ensuring proper inspection and identification of incoming waste from the general public and commercial customers.

Salary and benefits

Full time, permanent base salary $93,287 plus benefits that include:

  • Adverse working allowance ($2608 per annum)
  • Weekend loading and overtime as rostered.
  • Up to 18% Employer contribution Superannuation.
  • Full time, 76 hours per fortnight, Monday to Sunday roster.

Selection criteria

Qualifications:

  • Current WA HR driver’s License.
  • Accreditation to operate Skid steer loader and Front End Loader.
  • Supervisor training and or demonstrated years of experience.
  • Provide first aid.

Essential requirements

  • Experience managing and motivating people in a manual labour environment.
  • Working knowledge of weighbridges operations, weighbridge processes in a waste management setting.
  • Experience operating Hook-lift Trucks, Skid Steer loader & Front-End Loader.
  • Working knowledge of resource recovery operations and an appropriate understanding of the relevant environmental legislation.
  • Good communications skills and the ability to provide appropriate feedback to team members as required.
